Paris Bossa Nova

Volume 1 (EP) — Out September 18, 2026
Sunset-Sunside Launch Concert — October 14, 2026, Sunset-Sunside →

Paris Bossa Nova is the musical and visual project of French-American singer and guitarist Ramsay Rawson. At the crossroads of bossa nova, jazz and French chanson, the project celebrates the long history of musical exchange between France and Brazil, from the Left Bank encounters of the 1960s to today's cosmopolitan Parisian jazz scene.

On stage, Ramsay Rawson regularly presents Paris Bossa Nova at the Sunset Sunside in Paris, alongside a core group of French and Brazilian musicians and guests from the jazz and Brazilian scenes. It was in that same spirit of encounter and spontaneity that Paris Bossa Nova Volume 1 was recorded live at Studio Bop City in Paris, before continuing its journey to Brazil, where it was mixed in São Paulo by four-time Latin Grammy winner Thiago « Big » Rabello.

Conceived as a story in five chapters, Paris Bossa Nova Volume 1 carries songs, languages and influences back and forth between France and Brazil, through adaptations, encounters and musical lineages. More than a tribute to bossa nova, the project celebrates a French-Brazilian musical conversation that began more than sixty years ago and is still very much alive — between heritage and creation, Rio and Paris, yesterday and today.

The first single from Paris Bossa Nova, it set the foundation for the whole project and found a loyal following, with strong playlist traction and repeat listens.

Le Rendez-vous

Written in Brazil by Roberto and Erasmo Carlos, the song became famous in Italian through Ornella Vanoni — but it also existed in French, in a rare, little-known version by Richard Anthony that Ramsay tracked down himself. It found an unexpected life online, racking up over 37,000 views on Instagram, and has become the most-streamed track of the project.

J'attendrai

A massive World War II-era hit, originally "Tornerai" by Dino Olivieri. Ramsay's definitive version is by vintage French crooner Jean Sablon, a huge influence of his — Sablon had his own deep ties to Brazil, where he lived during the war, a lesser-known side of his story that also includes his close friendship with Dorival Caymmi.

Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar

The Antonio Carlos Jobim standard, with lyrics by Vinicius de Moraes. Ramsay sings it in Portuguese, drawing on the classic live album La Fusa, recorded in Buenos Aires in 1970 with Vinicius de Moraes, Maria Creuza and Toquinho. He also recorded a French version, by the esteemed Georges Moustaki — which may surface down the line.

La Danse d'Orphée

The Luiz Bonfá classic from Black Orpheus (1959), the French-Brazilian film that introduced bossa nova to the world. Ramsay discovered it through a café singer friend in Paris and later wrote his own French lyrics — the song has since become a cornerstone of his live shows, and streaming numbers keep climbing.
